The Institute for Religion, Politics and Society welcomes enquiries from high-quality research candidates (Honours, Masters, PhD) to undertake projects in our areas of research:
Law, politics and religion
Through our close ties with the Thomas More Law School (TMLS), IRPS is the leading Australian Research Institute in the field of Law and Religion. Exciting opportunities exist to undertake higher degree research in religion and politics, and projects in countering violent extremism.
Civility and citizenship
Research opportunities exist in identification of the major causes and consequences of the erosion of citizenship and the decline of civility. Whilst our primary focus is on contemporary Australia, we draw on international partnerships, including the Centre for Citizenship, Social Pluralism and Religious Diversity founded by our Max Planck Award Winner Professor Bryan S. Turner.
Asian religion and society
Our interdisciplinary research program draws on sociological, political, religious and human rights perspectives to address two key challenges of our time: the development of mutual understanding and trust between the West and new great powers and the persecution of religious minorities across Asia.
Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to find out more about undertaking a higher degree research project at The Institute for Religion, Politics and Society.
