Rabbi Fred Morgan is Professorial Fellow in the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy, researching Judaism and interfaith dialogue. His original studies at Columbia University and Cambridge University, England, were in the religions of India. He was Lecturer in Religious Studies at Bristol University, England, before entering the Leo Baeck College in London to study for the rabbinate. During this time he also spent a year studying in Jerusalem. He was ordained in 1984 and served North West Surrey Synagogue for 13 years before being appointed Senior Rabbi to Temple Beth Israel, Melbourne. He retired from that position in September 2013. He has lectured on Judaism at various institutions of higher learning including Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest, Hungary, Roehampton University in London and the Melbourne College of Divinity.
