John Tierney

John Tierney’s PhD dissertation explores the regional impacts of industrial decline, focusing on the case of the automotive sector. The research asks what can be done, by governments and private initiatives, to propel affected regions to a new and prosperous future. His dissertation will critically examine proposed solutions to the problems of manufacturing-specialised regions in Australia, with reference to comparable regions globally. It will investigate the extent to which economic diversification enables regions to absorb shocks and adapt to economic change successfully. John holds a Master of Public Policy from RMIT and a Bachelor of Social Sciences from La Trobe University.
